This picture is #2 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers (lite)

I met Miss Blevins back in March at the Maple Syrup Festival at the old Mt Rogers Combined School in Whitetop, VA. Dennis Schuler, a fellow church member, had brought her over from the nursing home in Abingdon. She grew up in Whitetop but then moved away to Seattle where she'd trained and worked as a nurse. She never married and when she retired she moved back to Whitetop to live. Even though age had taken its toll on the body her mind was still sharp as a tack. She really enjoyed the pancakes and sausage saying it was much better than anything they served at the home.

This was taken with the available light. I was able to rest my elbows on the table and so I could get a pretty sharp image even at 1/30.
