Early Netherlandish painting, traditionally known as the Flemish Primitives, refers to the work of artists active in the Burgundian and Habsburg Netherlands during the 15th- and 16th-century Northern Renaissance period. It flourished especially in the cities of Bruges, Ghent, Mechelen, Leuven, Tournai and Brussels, all in present-day Belgium.

C'est encore une étrange peinture de la Vierge à l'enfant. Il y a un perroquet inclus dans cette peinture, mais ce qui est plus troublant, ce sont les morceaux de sculpture de chaque côté. L'une montre un homme penché sur un autre avec un bâton ou un marteau à la main, sur le point de frapper l'homme au sol. De l'autre côté, il y a un homme avec ses mains dans la gueule du lion. De plus, les gravures sous les morceaux de sculptures montrent des poses très intimes de l'homme et de la femme. Très intéressant.
