Part of a cloister, later the college for theology students. The Netherlands needed protestant pastors after independence from catholic Spain, so the government at the time funded a college for theology students from a poor background. The building with the step gable is the only building left standing of that college. Now it is the residence of the Hortulanus, the president of the Botanical Garden of Leiden University.

We are moving to a new building this summer and today a selected group were allowed in to have a look. Builders were still working so we had to wear helmets. No pictures of me wearing a helmet are available.
