The man is king Gustav II Adolf of Sweden. He stopped in Krostitz in Saxony during the Thirty Years War and was handed a glass of beer from the brewery. As thanks the king gave a golden ring.
The oldest surviving passage in Leipzig. It is named after Maximilian Speck von Sternburg, who bought the building in 1815 and who's family kept it until 1908.
