Dresden 2019 – Rüstkammer – Thing sword
It was supposedly given as a gift to Elector August from a Danish king. It is a ceremonial sword, to indicate authority, at a “thing”, a public or judicial assembly. At the Isle of Man there is still a yearly “thing”, called Tynwald Day. Tynwald is derived from the word “þing” (thing). Tynwald Day also has a sword en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_State_(Isle_of_Man)
