1932 Austin Seven

My uncle's first car in the 1930's was an old Ruby, which was so worn out that when he encountered a very steep hill in Gloucestershire called the Bird-lip it slowly ground to a halt.

My dad asked his brother if he was giving up and going back home, but my uncle simply turned the car round and reversed it up the hill saying 'never forget the lowest gear on a motor vehicle is reverse' ;¬)
