I bought a glass butter dish years ago, only to find out it's not high enough for the standard block of butter. That was embarrassing.

You can always cut the butter to size.

We have a standard block of butter of 250 gram, but there are also butter rolls for sale of 500 gram or a cup of butter, also of 500 gram. The butter you can buy at farms has a variety of shapes.

I think butter in Canada is mostly 454 gram blocks... i.e. one pound. Actually I think European immigrants complain about the lack of butter choice in Canada. Apparently our government has lots of red tapes about butter, and we've far fewer varieties than in the EU.

I remember butter sticks from the USA.

You can cut a large piece of butter to size and put the rest in the freezer until you need it.

At Christmas and Easter you can buy butter in the form of a lamb, a bell or father Christmas.
