“To Quintus Calpurnius Flavus, son of Lucius, of the Galerian voting tribe, aedile, duovir and priest of Rome and of the Emperor, inhabitants of Barcino (erected this) by decree of the decurions ”

Honorary pedestal from the Forum dedicated to Quintus Calpurnius Flavus, an important figure from a lineage of municipal magistrates born in Barcino (late 1st century AD).

When the forum lost its function the pedestal was put to other uses – a board for games is preserved on one of its sides. It ws discovered in the foundations of the parish church of Santa Maria del Pi. Now in the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya, Carrer del Paradís, Barcelona.
October 2011.
