Kersey, Village in Suffolk (1951)
Photograph by Karl Gullers, 1916-1998.
I look back with infinite nostalgia to when (in my lifetime) an English village was as this one was, shaded by Elms, its dwellings occupied by locals and not modernised and uglified by aerials, and its streets unspoiled by parked cars, and with traffic so light that a dog could lie undisturbed in the middle of the road.
