Caiman Lizard An intimate portrait at Palm Beach Zoo. The great thing about lizards is that they don't move a lot. One has a lot of time to focus through glass and compose. 200_2_P1080626

Inky the Catcierge - 2 February 2016

02 Feb 2016 1 131
Inky is one of at least three cats to be found at the Marriott at Boca Center, Boca Raton. He is a catcierge and lives with his Mum and brother. He is frequently to be seen on the outside concierge desk and, just before this picture, was eating from his dish there. He does not interrupt eating for photographs. If you look closely, you will see food on his whiskers. 200_2_P1080804

Maddie Again - 13 February 2016

13 Feb 2016 98
A stay with friends provided another chance to admire the beautiful Maddie. She had a limp today after a little bump with another dog yesterday but she was still tranquil and affectionate. 200_2_P1080861C2

Black Bird - 22 February 2016

Unable to determine whether this was a rook or a crow, I have chosen a non-committal title for this illustration of a February afternoon in Southend-on-Sea. 200_2_P1080958M

This Greylag Goose in Memorial Gardens, York could almost have been sitting for a portrait. There were several of these birds in the gardens near the River Ouse. 200_2_P1090409

Ice Plant (1) - 13 April 2016

13 Apr 2016 87
The Ice Plant (Carpobrotus edulis) was introduced to California in the early 20th century although it might have arrived by ship up to 400 years earlier. Extensive planting took place in the 1970s. The purpose was to stabilise dunes and the soil along railroad tracks but it is contended that the characteristics of the plant, with its water retention and shallow roots, contribute to accelerated erosion. These beautiful flowers were seen in Burlingame on San Francisco Bay. 200_2_P1090728
