Central Line Stock at Epping - 1 August 2020

Central Line Stock at Epping - 1 August 2020
A Central Line train for North Acton at Epping. I thought it of note in a short visit that the frequency of service on a Saturday afternoon was impressive.

I don't know why but this photo caught my eye on my wander through explore - must be because it has a good mixture of punchy colour, a good composition and an infrequently photographed subject.
Nice one, John.

I thank you for your comments. The composition was certainly thought through. I think things like the Central Line are too ordinary for many people to photograph but I am an advocate of photographing the ordinary now so that the pictures will be of (historical) interest in 30-40 years time. In my seven decades I have seen a lot of things disappear.

I agree with you. My concern is whether digital records will be still accessible decades on. When my social services department was looking to digitize its client records in the 1970s, I travelled out with manager and a techie colleague to a cutting edge data storage consultancy at Amersham, or was Aylesbury. We were shown a system using big storage discs - about 9 or 10 inches across, If we had used them we would have had to transfer all the data within a couple of years and again a few years later probably. I know jpegs have been designed to be a long term medium, but if they do become so dated as to be obsolete, who will decide which of the billions, there will then be, should be transferred to a new medium. I have just scanned 1300+ family photos from 1860 to 1950 and sent copies to family members, but who knows how many generations will get the benefit of them.
