Gnat XR540 at Cotswold Airport - 14 September 2017
You never quite know what you're looking at with preserved aircraft as they (unfortunately) assume identities other than the original. This Folland Gnat T.1, displayed as XR540 at Cotswold Airport was XP502. I am grateful to Tractacus for guiding me to the correct information.

I have this as the the former XP502, construction number FL.517.
The real XR540, construction number FL.551, is shown as being at Denver since 1987.

Using this, it’s only very rarely that I have to resort to Wikipedia/Google to find details of an airframe.
