Mason Boys' Tower (5) - 14 April 2017
At the junction of Fort Road and Military Road in Gosport stands a strange structure of triangular cross section. The only visible clue as to its origin is an inscription above the door which reads 'Constructed By R.E. Mason Boys 1929'. People who have posted pictures elsewhere speculated that this might refer to the Royal Engineers. I wanted more certainty and, with invaluable assistance from my partner, found the link below which explains the fascinating history of an object which finds itself in much changed surroundings.
