The House of St. Barnabas (2) - 10 October 2014

Looking across Soho Square towards Greek Street, I was struck by the 'House of Charity' banner on a building opposite and another glimpse into history. The Grade I listed Georgian building has, since 1951, been known as The House of St. Barnabas. It provides support for the homeless and was formerly a hostel. It is a sobering thought that this symbol of past wealth should play this necessary role today in the heart of a city where, daily, so much personal wealth is casually disposed of.
