This statue of travel pioneer Thomas Cook stands in London Road, Leicester. Cook's career as a travel organiser started in 1841 when he chartered a train to take a party from Leicester to a temperance rally in Loughborough. The apparently busy background to this picture was chosen deliberately to reference several forms of travel.
