Opposite 'The Great Hole of Leicester' [qv] and thus on the east side of West Bridge, stands this isolated sculpture. At the time of writing, I have been able to find no direct explanation but it appears from a difficult to read inscription, which can be seen from Bath Lane, that it is something to with dyers. The land on which it stands is shockingly neglected but appears, as far as I can determine, to be reserved for the third stage of the Westbridge Wharf development which currently consists of two blocks, Roman Wall and Dyersgate. Roman Wall is the background in this picture.
