Vue sur Rouen (3) - 24 Avril 2014

A winding journey to a panoramic viewpoint above Rouen was well worthwhile. This view features Rouen cathedral and Église Saint-Maclou.

I think a modern view made possible by the wonders of digital photography compares favourably with 'Vue générale de Rouen' by Claude Monet (1892). There is a depiction of that work on a placard at the viewpoint and I think it is one of his worst. I like impressionism but there is a point at which the style, taken too far, conveys much less than it intends.
