Wrocław is a very special city. For me familywise (it's my mom's hometown and my parents got married in that city) and also as far as architecture goes. The city hall looks like a church and the central railway station like a castle.

Well, not quite a Christmas tale ;-) Although this series seems to somehow suit the season, I took those photos in May. The real Christmas tale was my sister, who was born on Christmas Eve one year after my parents had got married :-)

Ja, von 1939 bis 1945...lausige zeiten leider. Da war halt auch nur das rathaus schön! Und dass meine eltern frisch verheiratet waren, hat wohl noch zu etwas familiärem glück beigetragen. Ebenso meine schwester als Christkind ;-)

I really like Poland and feel very much at home there (although unfortunately I don't speak the language other than a few words), perhaps because it's full of family history for me.
How wonderful that your daughter had the chance to attend a wedding there. My grandparents and my parents got married in Wrocław. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be able to visit Wrocław and other parts of Poland soon! Let me know, so I can be there... :-)

Das sind ja schöne Eindrücke von Breslau! War mal in den 1980er Jahren dort, in Zeiten des Kalten Kriegs.

In den 1980er jahren war ich noch nicht dort. Damals war auch bestimmt noch nicht soviel restauriert wie heute und es war noch "uriger". Mein erster besuch war im jahr 1995 und dann leider erst wieder 2019 und schon das war ein riesengrosser unterschied. Ich habe vor, in den nächsten jahren mehr von Polen zu sehen, denn fast überall wartet dort familiengeschichte auf mich.

Den Scheiben-Springbrunnen kannte ich nur bei Tageslicht.
Irgendwie sieht das Foto "vereist" aus. Gut. ☺

Die altstadt sieht echt märchenhaft aus bei nacht. Den springbrunnen habe ich auch bei tageslicht fotografiert, aber bei nacht wirkt er noch malerischer :-) Ja, man könnte fast meinen, das wasser im springbrunnen sei eingefroren. Irgendwie passt's ja auch...eingefroren zum zeitpunkt der aufnahme :-)

Siehste! Dann sind kölsch und polnisch ja ganz ähnlich ;-) Ich glaube, die polen haben sich das wort aus dem kölschen ausgeliehen! :-)

Oh ja, wunderschön. Ich bin begeistert von dieser stadt. Und dann noch die familiengeschichte, überall kann ich nach irgendwelchen wohnhäusern von meinen grosseltern und schulen und arbeitsstätten von meiner mutter suchen...also alles sehr spannend. Und der arbeitsplatz von meinem opa war in ganz Breslau, er war nämlich strassenbahnfahrer :-))
