THV Patricia
Unfortunately only a distant view of a unique visitor off Sunderland. The THV Patricia is the flag ship of Trinity House, the body responsible for maintaining the lighthouses and other aids to navigation around the coast of Britain.
In service since 1982, the ship has a helideck as well as a crane on the foredeck. It was possible to join the ship as a passenger as it carried out its duties but this was suspended in 2020.

THV Patricia
The lighthouse maintenance vessel 'THV Patricia' made another journey past Sunderland recently. The previous few days it had carried out work on buoys around Holy Island in the north of Northumberland. The next stop was stop was Saltscar buoy off Redcar in Cleveland. There are several buoys visible on the deck of the ship.
