Staple food grains of the world, Section M: Millets, subsection Sama
Panicum sumatrense has likely been domesticated in the semiarid India at least 4500 years ago. It's still an important crop in mixed plantings in the Indian drylands as it's tolerant to draught and is able to grow on poor agricultural soil.
This cereal has been most difficult to obtain for me in Germany.
Shout out to Laura from the UK for helping me out!
