The Midland railway viaduct in New mills is having some work done to the base of one of its arches. The orange plastic sheeting is draped over a framework of scaffolding which is being used to divert the water so that the work can be carried out.

The Queens bridge is a double tier, twin arch bridge that was built in 1835 to carry a turnpike road over the river Goyt.
