Oystercatcher near Clarach bay

Nice to see and able to capture a couple of shots of the Oystercatchers that were on the shore close to where we were staying on holiday. There was a flock of ten that stayed on the rocks until the tide came in and spurred them to move on.

Wheatear (Long flight ahead)

Toward the end of my afternoon walk along a stretch of the Ceredigion coastal path I came across four Wheatears. They all seemed to be juveniles and more than likely looking out to sea ready for setting off on migration.

Chough nest box

I was watching an episode of BBC Spring watch 2021, it was the one that they were looking at a Chough nest box that was situated on the Welsh coast line. As the camera zoomed out to show the surrounding area it dawned on me that I recognised the exact spot that the nest box was situated. The lucky part of this tale is that we were going to that area of Wales for our summer holiday! Chough is a bird that I had not seen before and I was up for the challenge, reached the nest box site and found it with ease, I sat for a while hoping to see if the Choughs were still in the area . Unfortunately not, I set off walking further along the coastal path when suddenly I heard a corvid like call, I spotted two black shapes soaring on the horizon. I raised my binoculars and was overjoyed at the sight of a pair of Choughs, they came closer and my thoughts was to grab my camera. However I decided to enjoy the experience while it lasted rather than grab a shot that I would probably later confine to the waste bin.

Chough

If you look back at my previous two images you will read about my delight of seeing a pair of Choughs while on holiday. I refrained from getting my camera out at first but I did have a go during my second sighting. My intuition that I would not get a great shot was correct and I was glad that I spent most of the time viewing them through my binoculars.

Ceredigion coastal path

Some of the views that I came across while walking along a stretch of the Ceredigion coastal path. I the plan was to walk from Clarach bay (where we were staying) to Borth, this stretch was 3 3/4 miles. I think that this distance was as the crow flies and not the distance of the undulating pathway! Another reason that I did not manage it was due to the fact that I kept on getting distracted by the stunning views and wildlife that I encountered along the way.
