Riesen-Bärenklau (Heracleum mantegazzianum)
Der aus dem Kaukasus stammende Riesenbärenklau (Heracleum mantegazzianum) wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts als Zierpflanze in Europa eingeführt. Die auch als Herkulesstaude bekannte Pflanze breitet sich in vielen Regionen Deutschlands immer mehr aus. Dabei verdrängt sie andere heimische Pflanzenarten. Jede Pflanze bildet zwischen 10.000 und 30.000 Samen aus. Diese sind über mehrere Tage schwimmfähig und können so große Distanzen zurücklegen. Der Riesenbärenklau kommt häufig an Flüssen und Bächen, auf Brachland und an Wegesrändern vor, findet aber auch seinen Weg in den Garten. Er lässt sich dort gern auf nährstoffreichen Standorten nieder, die nicht zu trocken sind.
