Pickering Station
Planet was an early 2-2-0 steam locomotive built in 1830 by Robert Stephenson and Company for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.
See here at Pickering.

Wonderful! I just watched a Spanish TV documentary about the 1870s construction of a very challenging railway line between Salamanca Province in Spain and the coast in Portugal. Lots of tunnels and spectacular bridges. I wish I could give you a link but alas, I can't find one. Sorry!
Best wishes anyway,
Andy

Hi Andy ,
Your visit is most welcome. Thank you.
Glad you like it.
I could not find anything on the railway you mentioned, but in those days many routes were challenging.. (the easy one were already built!!)

Hi Peter, I really like the way you have presented this shot. If it was not for the modern clothes on the two people, it could have been from an earlier era! I do like it with the people in though :)

Best wishes, Rosa.

Hi Rosa,
Thank you very much!
Glad you like it.
The picture is quite old now. (Maybe the little girl has children of her own ......) but I had held it back until now for, let us say, 'obvious reasons'. Unfortunately the clothes don't quite match the locomotive, but I did like the way the pair of them, and their dog, were enjoying the scene!
Now you have mentioned it, I do have an even older picture with actors in period dress... Watch this space!

Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend,
Peter"
