What a cracking shot indeed Peter again caught nicely in the Sunshine .. interesting to see the "limited clearance" sign on the bridge here which is also the same sign used on Polish aircraft by the looks of it

Best wishes ... Steve

Hi Andy,

Thank you so much for your visit and kind awards, it is much appreciated as ever.
While this is obviously a re-enactment, there was an 'elderly' couple standing next to me, and the lady said she remembered taking this overnight service from London to Dover (or Folkstone - she wasn't sure) and the coaches were taken by ship over the channel and on to Paris the next morning. It must have been around the 1960's she thought...

Hi Steve,

Thank you so much for your visit and very kind awards.
Our 'Limited Clearance' sign has been in use since 1952, so I do not know how it relates to Polish aircraft. I have also seen the same colour scheme used in factories, in this case on the hat of the person in charge in the event of an emergency. Maybe the eyecatching red and white check pattern has universal appeal!!

There will be more pics from this gala to come!

Best Wishes

Thank you Peter. My comment was a tad tongue in cheek but your response is very interesting! I'm old enough to remember pre-Beeching times and travel by steam train and I don't think of myself as 'elderly,' at least not quite yet! :o) - No need to respond!
