Hello dear Steve, thanks its always good to see you, Im really not sure on this, this pretty little green "pod" appears just after the Clematis has bloomed but as far as I can tell, it doesn't contain anything like a seed pod.? its just a starburst looking pod that withers away, but mostly, I removed them, and another fresh little clematis bud usually appears then in time.

thanks Steve, I hope you are having a good week, I see where the UK is having unusually hot weather, Keep cool, my friend... "Warm" wishes :) Sarah xx

It gives added value to some of the clematis varieties. In my mum's garden there is a pretty climbing clematis with yellow bell like flowers in May and June and then we are left with these as in your photo for another 3-4 months. They are attractive in their own right, I think.
A lovely shot. All best wishes,
Andy

Hey Andy, Yes this little "thing" that appears after the real flower, is kinda pretty in its own right. But as mentioned to Steve, I most always removed them, and in a period of time I see another Clematis trying to appear! ot at least "close by" where I cut this off ! Thanks Andy, Sarah
