Good quality street art is light years away from the usual rubbish you see.
Derelict land near Chamartin Station, Madrid.
I think this was unfinished when I passed this way a year ago. I will re-visit and report back! I do hope it hasn't been demolished for a housing estate! Although I'll wait until the temperature falls below its current 106F (42C) as there is no shade anywhere near here!
I was pleased to see these two

On an evening stroll near me, but down a pedestrianised road I hadn't been down before, I saw these. The other game is hopscotch, I don't know this one.

When I took this, there was no-one around. When I downloaded it later I saw the mural of the girl jogger (there are many such murals on hoardings in Madrid). But now on uploading to ip, I'm not so sure. It still looks like a mural, the clothes don't seem to be typical Madrid jogging attire
... and yet ... and yet ...
her feet seem to be just far enough away from the hoardings to make me think she might be real after all!!
However, she must be far too close to the fence, is heading straight for the small tree and her 'shadow' bears no relation to the (poor) source of light which looks painted on to me ...
I'm tending towards 'mural' but the jury's still out!
What do you think?
OK!!! ... ... ... ANSWER!
I SPENT ONE NIGHT BACK HOME AND SO HAD TO CHECK IT OUT! THERE IS A LOAD OF GRAFITTI HERE - FAR MORE THAN A WEEK AGO WHEN I TOOK THE SHOT ... BUT THERE IS NO MURAL OF THE GIRL.
SHE WAS REAL!!!
How I didn't see her when I took the shot, I'll never know!!!!!

Superior street art, commissioned by the town hall and now painted over with inferior stuff (I think this original artwork had been commissioned for a year only).

I think it's supposed to be a dog but I'm not 100% sure.

A favourite all my (musically aware) life. Especially the second half of the this song, where the blues, funk, jazz, rock'n'roll ellements of the Stones' various influences all fuse together. Mick Taylor shows why he was such an integral part of the Stones in this, their second (and final) flowering.
Last of the Christmas lights. Gran Vía, Madrid.

Before they all come down tomorrow night (or in theory they should on 12th Night, Reyes - Kings, in Spain).
Today the streets were heaving; the busiest shopping day of Christmas because tomorrow evening is the feast of Kings, when the kiddies get their prezzies. Monday is a holiday and then the sales start on Tuesday.

Madrid street art. I tried to update this 8 years later but it was impossible. Why? Because the trees had grown so qiuickly that they totally obscured the artwork!

I don't know what this is. All I know is that it is in the grounds of the Isabel II water company.

Occasionally, temporary displays of modern art are displayed in this garden,
I read the notes seen on the wood here, understood not much, even in the English translation, took a photo of the notes in case anyone was interested but the photo didn't come out. But I quite like it!
In the distance (mid-pic) can just be seen the cranes at Real Madrid's stadium.

From a few years ago and not uploaded previously. The Four Towers peer above this waste ground, fence and good street art. Re-discovered the shot on a hunt for a fence!

This won my 'Best-dressed Bollard of the Year Award' back in 2018. I passed by it again yesterday but it wasn't quite up to scratch so I post another of the shots I took back then, simply because I like it!
I'LL BE OFF-LINE FOR A FEW DAYS WHILE MY LAPTOP IS IN DRY DOCK FOR ESSENTIAL REPAIRS. CAPACITY ISSUES TOO (PHOTOS!)
I HOPE TO BE BACK IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING THIS COMING WEDNESDAY..
