P is for purple

14 May 2014 104 37 2677
Last week I went a different route from work to home and saw a purple field at the roadside. I immediately thought of the lavender fields of Provence, which I'd really like to see. A few days later I took my camera and drove back to the field. It was ... chives. I took some pics and played around at home with Photoshop. Tell me ... Who needs so much chives? Update: There are two more images in the notes. It´s my first try. Hope it works :-)

O ist for old

I love the Art Nouveau style. Whenever I'm in Berlin to visit my aunt, I admire the old staircase. This time I finally took a picture. I processed it as HDR, because in the normal exposure, the beauty somehow did not come to bear. Do you think it needs a black frame?

"Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin" (I still have a suitcase in Berlin) is a song from Marlene Dietrich. This suitcases are stacked in the German Museum of Technology in Berlin at the section with the big old steam locomotives. I processed them in HDR and put a simple black frame around them.

Heisterbach Abbey

12 Jan 2014 35 7 978
The famous basilica of Heisterbach was (...) being built during the period of transition from the Romanesque round arch to the Gothic pointed arch, its style of architecture was a combination of the Romanesque and the Gothic. Abbey ruins Heisterbach, which had large possessions and drew revenues from many neighbouring towns, remained one of the most flourishing Cistercian monasteries until its suppression in 1803. The library and the archives were given to the city of Düsseldorf; the monastery and the church were sold and torn down in 1809, and only the apse with the ruins of the choir remains. "Falkenlust, a small summer residence and huntinglodge, was built (...) in a relatively short time (1729–37). It is one of the most intimate and exquisite creations of the German rococo era." www.germany.travel/en/towns-cities-culture/unesco-world-heritage/bruehl-castles-of-augustusburg-and-falkenlust.html I want to sit and read in the room with the chandelier :-)

HDR is new to me and I have found pleasure in it. So today three new HDR images. In the first picture Castle Drachenburg is seen. (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Drachenburg) The second picture is much less romantic, as you will see. The third picture shows the upper castle in Kuchenheim. (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obere_Burg_ (Kuchenheim)) ENJOY :-)

W is for Wüstung Wollseifen

29 Jun 2014 91 31 3500
Wollseifen is a deserted village (in German: Wüstung) in the Eifel region. After the Second World War, the British forces had cleared the village to build a military training area, which in 1950 was handed over to the Belgians. From the former village only the church and the school building has been preserved. The buildings on the right in the picture were built for military exercises. Today Wollseifen is situated in the Eifel National Park and is once again open to visitors. some thoughts about this: -The processing in HDR shows hopefully how surreal it was to be there on a sunny saturday afternoon. - I´m sorry to Paradise who wanted to visit Wollseifen with me, but stays in the USA now (It HAS to be my picture for W...) - I like the nesting box in the upper window on the first building
