Er zählt zu den bedeutendsten Kulturdenkmälern der Spätrenaissance in Deutschland. Er wurde im Jahr 1643 fertiggestellt, bildet das Kernstück des Augsburger Rathauses und hat eine Fläche von 552 m² bei einer Deckenhöhe von 14 Metern. Die 1944 zerstörte historische Ausstattung wurde anlässlich der 2000-Jahrfeier der Stadt von 1980 bis 1990 rekonstruiert. It's one of the most important cultural monuments of the late Renaissance in Germany. It was completed in 1643, forms the core of the Augsburg town hall and has an area of 552 m² with a ceiling height of 14 meters. Wer es durchquerte, fand sich unvermittelt in einem Tunnel aus Bambus, Palmen und anderen exotischen Pflanzen wieder. Dazu zwitscherten Vögel aus dem Off - ein Stück Tropenparadies mitten in der Stadt. Viele haben sich gefragt, was es damit auf sich hat.
