Kleine Schanze Park near Parliament- Bern

Kleine Schanze Park near Parliament- Bern

Oktober 1909 statt.

The World Post monument stands on the small hill in Bern and reminds that Bern is the founding city and seat of the since 1874 existing Universal Postal Union.

The bronze sculpture called "Autour du monde" ("Around the World") was made by the Frenchman René de Saint-Marceaux (1845-1915), who won an international competition in 1903. The inauguration of the approximately 200 000 Swiss franc expensive monument took place nine years later, on October 4, 1909.

Could find nothing and I searched a lot :-( There is only about another sculpture, the Worldpost. Maybe it's all together. Cannot really understand.

I found this in German Wikipedia: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schanzen_(Bern)#Kleine_Schanze
For what I understand, there is also a Grosse Schanze. Since you speak German, you could make sense of it. Maybe :)

Thanks. Beautiful B&W photo. So, the statue seems to be part of a WW I memorial.
