A very unusual species. They stay in Michigan, if there is enough food available, but they breed in the very northern region near the polar circle.

Doerthe club has replied to volker_hmbg clubDiese Voegel gibt es bei euch nicht, aber sie sind schon eine ganz andere Art. Sie picken nur auf der Erde and kratzen wie Huehner im Sand. Sie brueten ganz hoch oben im Norden und kommen den Winter ueber zu uns nach Michigan, wenn man sie fuettert. Wenn es windig und verschneit ist, breiten sie auf dem Boden ihre Fluegel aus, um zu verhindern, dass sie weggeblasen werden.
