Western Grebe

Western Grebe
There usually are no Western Grebes to be found in this area, they may have strayed from their normal migration route.

The clear, blue water makes a great background for the grebe.

I spotted several of these birds during a weekend stay in Sarnia. The description in my Smithsonian bird book I read that their range is the western half of the continent. So, how did they get to this area?

They flew, of course. ;-) I think I've never seen a grebe, but by far the best match in my Kaufman field guide is a western grebe.
