When I first moved to Romeo in 1980 there were eight orchards around the village, now there are only two. The village still puts on a week-long Peach Festival at the end of August, beginning of September with several parades, fireworks, a carnival with many vendors and an art show.

A very beautiful peach. Our peaches come from Alabama and are sold from pickup trucks parked beside the roads. The season is almost finished here.

We bought a basket of peaches, don't know what the measurement would be, maybe half a peck, and they are very juicy and sweet this year. Last year the peach crop in this area was of poor quality. Interesting that you can buy peaches from pickup trucks where you live.
