Old Squaw (Clangula hyemalis)

Old Squaw (Clangula hyemalis)
Today on St. Clair River, Michigan.
WIKIPEDIA.de entry:
Their primary range is the northern belt of the globe from Scandinavia across Siberia and from Alaska across Canada and the entire northern American continent. In 2012 these tiny ducks have been listed as being endangered.

We only see them in Michigan during the winter. They live on the water, they even sleep on the water. They dive for food and breed along the shores of the arctic tundra.
