The tramways were the common way of transport when I was a student in Lisbon. As we had no mone6 to afford it we used to travel hanging outside like raisin grapes, it was adventure and the controlers did not say anything...
Now it is touristic attraction, the good side of it is that they still exist...

Thank you :-)) . We lived in Alfama a bit higher up and heard the tram until late in the evening and early in the morning. A very relaxing and nice sound!
