Barley

Barley is a handsome buff boy who clearly enjoys his treats. While he weighed 15 pounds when he arrived, Barley is now down to 13 pounds. We guesstimate his age to be about seven years old. Barley is a bit shy around strangers. In fact, he runs and hides. But, with treats in hand, it is possible to lure Barley out for some much-enjoyed loving. Barley tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He is neutered. He has been vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Barley's kidneys feel a bit small on examination, but his labs are completely normal. We put the boy through a dental cleaning (and extraction of one tooth), so he has sparkly white teeth to start his new life. Barley can peacefully coexist with other cats and dogs, but he isn't buddies with any of them (not even his presumed brother). Barley is available for adoption for $40.

Claude (ADOPTED)

Claude (Monet) is a handsome, gregarious, neutered approximately one-and-a-half-year-old male who has been vaccinated against distemper and rabies. Claude tested negative for FIV/FeLV. The dear boy loves to play, and he certainly enjoys a good cuddle. Claude consistently uses the litterbox. Of note, this boy likes to be top cat and may target “weaker” housemates. He does fine with others who are confident. Adoption Fee: $50.

Kung Pao (ADOPTED)

Polydactyl Kung Pao is approximately two years old. He is a friendly, outgoing tabby-and-white boy who spent weeks hanging out in a town until some people took pity on him. Kung Pao adores humans. Kung Pao was neutered on 1/6/15. He has been vaccinated against rabies and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Kung Pao prefers to be an only cat. Kung Pao is available for adoption for $50.

Ellie

Ellie had a litter of kittens on a property, and by the time we became involved only one kitten remained (his guesstimated birth date is 11/7/14 based on what the homeowner knew). The pair joined us on 1/16/15. Ellie, albeit shy, has been around humans in the past. She was spayed on 2/11/15 as well as vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Ellie tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She is still being treated for a stubborn ear infection. Ellie is available for adoption for $50, but please be aware that we are still treating her left ear. She has been spayed and vaccinated against rabies and distemper.

Russell (ADOPTED)

Russell was born to Ellie and is the only surviving kitten of her litter (others were killed by predators per the homeowner). His guesstimated birthdate is 11/7/14 based on the homeowner's observations. When Russell joined us with his mother on 1/16/15, he had never interacted with humans. We have been working with the boy, and he now actively seeks out loving. He's a little bit shy of strangers, but he has been doing much, much better as time passes. Russell likes other cats but has not yet been exposed to dogs. Russell is available for adoption for $60. He's neutered and vaccinated against rabies and distemper.

Miss Farkus

Miss Farkus was trapped as an older kitten along with her sisters. As they were all completely wild, they have been undergoing socialization. Miss Farkus loves human touch, and she is very food motivated. The beauty enjoys being carried around in her human's arms, purring up a storm. However, she is quite nervous around strangers. We are working to help her overcome her fears. Miss Farkus has been spayed and vaccinated against rabies. Her guesstimated birth date is 9/2/14. She is available for adoption for $60.

Mr. Grigsby: SPECIAL NEEDS

Mr. Grigsby is a gregarious, outgoing feline. People who visit to choose a home often fall in love with his handsome looks, outgoing personality, and soft fur. However, he will need a special home. After all, Mr. Grigsby is allergic to standard cat food. He can have limited ingredient duck and pea without difficulty or, what we feed him, ground up chicken from Woody's Pet Food Deli. Of note, it isn't as simple as that. Why not? Mr. Grigsby is food obsessed. He will go after any food in the sink and even has figured out ways to open cabinets (now all have magnets holding them closed). This boy will tear into bags of anything left on the counter. We do our best to keep Mr. Grigsby away from anything that will cause him to react, but he manages to get into something every six to eight months or so. When it happens, he needs to have a steroid. His face swells and his paws swell. His lips ulcerate. If Mr. Grigsby doesn't get a steroid in time, his paw pads crack and his paws become secondarily infected thanks to the litterbox. Yep, it's best to catch it early. Mr. Grigsby requires a home that can medically care for an allergic reaction. An organized kitchen is a must, one where nothing is left out for him to devour. With all that said, Mr. Grigsby is definitely worth all the extra effort. He's been vaccinated against rabies, distemper, and feline leukemia. Adoption fee: $50.

MoMo: SPECIAL NEEDS

MoMo is our only declawed feline in the house. He arrived that way. MoMo, now approximately 8 years old, was found dodging cars scrounging for food in a grocery store parking lot. MoMo is a very quirky boy although his OCD tendencies are mellowing with age. MoMo does not want to live with other adult males (he will spray). He also at times prefers to use wee-wee pads over litterboxes. That has lessened considerably with time, but MoMo still falls into a special needs category due to his unusual litter habits. MoMo lives in his own room in our home (apart from other adult males). Thankfully, he enjoys female company as well as kittens. His room is our "kitten room" whenever we have kittens available for adoption in our home. MoMo is neutered, dewormed, and has been vaccinated against rabies, distemper, and FeLV. Adoption fee: $50.

Booth (ADOPTED)

This petite, one-eyed boy joined the rescue with his brother Worley. Booth arrived at ~6-7 months old, weighing less than 3 ½ pounds, his right eye missing. Booth was treated both orally and topically for an infection in his socket. His intake fungal culture unfortunately showed that Booth carried ringworm, so this outgoing boy has to be in isolation. We are treating him both orally and topically until he has multiple negative cultures. Booth is otherwise healthy. Booth tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He has been vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Booth, like the others, has been dewormed. This confident, affectionate bundle of joy will be available for adoption for $60.

Worley (ADOPTED)

This handsome gray classic tabby joined us with his brother Booth. They were approximately 6 to 7 months old when they arrived. Worley tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He was neutered and vaccinated against rabies and distemper on 3/26/15. Unfortunately, both he and his brother ended up having a positive ringworm intake culture. As a result, Worley is in isolation. Unlike his brother, he has not had any visible lesions. Once we have negative cultures, this generally laidback boy will be available for adoption for $60.

Miss Flick (soon available for adoption)

Miss Flick, like her sisters, was trapped as a feral kitten. She has been undergoing socialization. Thankfully, Miss Flick is more comfortable around strangers, willing to take treats offered to her by unknown hands. However, we are still working on getting her comfortable being picked up. While she can be picked up and has had her claws trimmed without incident, she really isn't overly fond of having her four paws off the ground. Miss Flick has been spayed and vaccinated against rabies. Her guesstimated birth date is 9/2/14. She will be available for adoption for $60.

Miss Schwartz (ADOPTED)

Miss Schwartz has been a bit slower than her sisters at adapting to life with humans, but she does have confidence and will likely be very devoted to her forever human. It took weeks and weeks to achieve her first purr and her first butt lift, but now Miss Schwartz runs to the door of her tower for loving and treats. Miss Schwartz is confident enough to eat in front of strangers. Miss Schwartz has been spayed and vaccinated against rabies. Her guesstimated birth date is 9/2/14. She will be available for adoption for $60.

Two additional felines joined us in April: Chiffon and Nimby. They will be available for adoption once they have been assessed and have received appropriate vet care. Chiffon is a sweet, sweet girl, quiet, gentle. Nimby has a definite disdain for other felines. I suspect she'll need to go to a home where she will be an only feline.
