Réunissant les plus importantes figures de la scène artistique du South Bronx, Wild Style est l’un des films fondateurs de la culture hip-hop. Tourné en 1982 avec peu de moyens, il met en scène le graffeur Lee dans le rôle de « Zoro ». Le scénario basique est prétexte à une plongée joyeuse dans l’univers du graffiti, du rap et du breakdance. Projeté en présence du réalisateur Charlie Ahearn, Wild Style sera suivi de Bongo Barbershop, un court métrage sur la rencontre du pionnier du hip-hop tanzanien Balozi (Dola Soul) avec DJ Easy Mike et Grand Master Caz.

Bringing together the most important figures of the South Bronx artistic scene of the early 1980s, Wild Style is one of the seminal films on hip-hop culture. Shot in 1982 on a small budget, it tells the story of “Zoro”, played by graffiti legend, Lee. The simple script is a pretext to a joyful plunge into the world of graffiti, rap, and breakdancing. The film will be screened in the presence of director Charlie Ahearn, and followed by Bongo Barbershop, a short film about the encounter between the pioneer of Tanzanian hip-hop, Balozi (Dola Soul), DJ Easy Mike, and Grand Master Caz.

“Piecebook Battle”

À l’initiative de Sacha Jenkins et de David Villorente, les Soirées Nomades invitent une vingtaine de graffeurs à participer à une compétition de piecebooks (carnets d’esquisse). Au cours d’un après-midi, ces derniers élaborent en présence du public leur projet sur papier. À l’issue de la confrontation, les gagnants désignés par un jury de professionnels réaliseront leur graffiti à grande échelle.

For Nomadic Nights, Sacha Jenkins and David Villorente will invite twenty graffiti artists to participate in a piecebook competition. In one afternoon, these artists will develop their project on paper in the presence of an audience. At the end of the battle, the winners, chosen by a jury of professionals, will create a large-scale version of their graffiti.
