Monmouth Beach, (Lyme Regis)

On his ill fated attempt to overthrow King James II the Duke of Monmouth landed on this beach 11th June 1685 he was subsequently defeated at the Battle of Sedgemoor on 6th July 1685,
This was the last major battle fought between English forces on English soil.

Superbly composed Roger...........I love the sweeping curve of the beach and the white edges of the water make a great leading line. The colours in the cliffs are wonderfully earthy!
