Coromandel Walkway
|
|
|
|
Coromandel Walkway is a walking track round the northernmost tip of the Coromandel peninsula between Fletcher Bay and Stony Bay. Road access to both bays is by narrow unsealed roads that often are in a bad state -as is the walkway, currently partially closed due to landslides.

Vardø, Norway's easternmost town, is only 35km from Russian waters. The large radar domes are officially there to monitor space debris....

"Hestmannen (the horseman) is the villain in the Legend of the Seven Sisters, and the mountain named after him does indeed resemble a cloaked rider. According to legend, while the Horseman chased the Maiden of Leka down the Helgeland coast, the first rays of the sun struck him and he turned to stone."

Selsøya

Selsøya (in the foreground) is just north of the polar circle. On the island lies Selsøyvik gamle handelssted, an old trading post used since the 16th century and permanently inhabited since 1777.
In former times Selsøyvik used to be a Hurtigruten stop and sometimes in fine weather (and when the captain is in a good mood) ships take the detour through the islands and skerries, usually greeted by flag waving inhabitants;-)
On a small skerry a bit further north there is a bathroom installation made by students (clickable note).

SC104: an object out of place
Surrounded by water but without mains water connection;-)
This installation was made by students, it lies on a small skerry off Kjerøya. There also used to be a showerhead over the bathtub but this must have been blown away in a storm.
