The aim of this group is to promote friendly discussion of man-made art found outdoors and the sharing of photographs of it. Most deliberate art applies. This includes murals, graffiti (providing it's more than just a 'tag'), calligraphy (as on Muslim buildings), tilework, sculptures, and architectural details. Pictures of whole buildings and structures don't count -- there are enough groups for those. Nor do pictures of garden ornaments, art found on vehicles or accidental art, such an inter…

Power lines and cables in the air can be a challenge to that great landscape photograph. Instead of cursing them, let us embrace them. Here you may contribute your creative work at making power lines and other cables artistic and interesting. I inherited this site as administrator. Originally it was called Alberta Power lines. Power lines and cables from anywhere in the world are welcome.

Blossfeldt, Karl - followers - Plant archetypes of art

Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was neither a professional photographer nor a natural scientist, but a professor at the arts and crafts school in Berlin, a sculptor and amateur photographer. His interest in the world of plants was of an artistic and didactic nature: he was interested in the structure of plants, their organic composition, their "highest artistic form" born "out of practicality", which he wanted to make visible and comparable with the help of photography. His goal was to create a syst…

    Buddhist Temples and Monasteries

I often asked myself why nobody has started a group about the cultural areas of famous temples and monasteries in Asia (and not only in Asia). My inital contributions to this group are about Thai temples. Everybody is welcome to post pictures of Buddhist temples and monasteries. Buddhism and Hinduism are very often interfused in cultural monument, e.g. the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Please also post your pictures of these famous places, but avoid posting more than 5 pictures at once.

This group is dedicated to buildings, old,or new. The building should take up most of the photo, i.e. no special architectural details (https://www.ipernity.com/group/2301602). Religious buildings do not belong in this group. They have their own group : (https://www.ipernity.com/group/491523) . However, if this type of building appears in a group of buildings, it must not be the subject of the photo.

An abstract is a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world. Composition becomes very important to a successful abstract. Here you can post abstracts that you create, or that you find by leaving out parts of the object. Have fun with it, but do try to add only your best abstracts. Perfection not required! I will be moderating this group. If your photo is removed it will be because it doesn't fit the category. If you disagree, then contact me, the admi…

Abstract photography is understood to mean that it does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form nonrepresentational. Obviously do we need objects but let us see them abstract.
