In Stephen Poliakoff''s Shooting the Past, the photographic library was about to be scattered, until it turned out that the background figures in unremarkable photos tied one fellow's history together.

Most of the photos here are from hockey matches and they could do with editing in number, yet a player might notice a small detail about themselves which no-one else picks up on.

Also, context matters, so some photos are left in because two opposing players in a low-key Div 3 match might become team-mates down the line, or within the small world of hockey one turns up coaching the other from a dug-out, or as spectator alongside a relation.

Often the goals aren't pictured, or aren't well shown, but I've given up trying there. If anyone finds these photos worth a second look, do go ahead and download - click on a photo, then on the right for 'more options', then chose a size. The only thing I'd ask would be, if they're shared online, that they're attributed, and ideally posted through an embedded link which would bring people to see the rest of the photos.
