These are exciting times. I’ve sold my scooter and bought a motorcycle, no, not a Yamaha XV950 (as the license plate suggests), but the XVS950A (sadly too complicated to be issued as a license plate). I’m not an accomplished rider, and it’s sheer luck that I’ve managed to keep the thing in an upright position. I’m working on it, though!

On the left is my grandfather-in-law who rode bikes all his life, on the right a new Yamaha Majesty 400 with its proud owner posing. Some progress in design and technique is apparent, though one might argue that much of the charm of the early bikes is lost.

An active member of the AlphaSmart Group on Flickr, I have wanted to take this picture for quite some time. Today the weather was perfect. The picture shows me sitting on my modest Yamaha Neo’s scooter, and taking important notes on my AlphaSmart Neo. No need to stress that the picture is 100% staged.

... after a day of hard work. You don’t really believe someone’s waiting for me with a camera, do you? Or that I’d ride an hour in Winter without gloves? No, it is a self-portrait, taken this Sunday in the late afternoon. From a tripod. To show that it’s really me, I even used a fill-in flash! :-) Acute observers will notice that the wind screen has arrived; it really helps.
