My mate Remy, giving me some comfort after the horrors of my phone call "home"

My only friend at Maredsous, this black cat (how ironic). Outside the back entry where I went to smoke, there was a cat house (with a flappy door and comfy bedding) and a feeding area. Two tabbies ran away when I approached, but this black cat came over and purred and rolled over to offer his belly. I was so grateful for the warm welcome.

Remy and me have become mates. He likes to follow me around, watch me crap in the compost heap (the toilet was blocked), and sit on my lap and drool. Today he brought me a gift. It didn't look quite like a mouse. I googled it and I think it is a Common Vole (Microtus arvalis)
