For Macro Mondays #473, 6 July 2026. The theme this week is "Sharpness". A stainless steel razor blade certainly matches that requirement. Happy Macro Monday, everyone.

For Macro Mondays weekly project No 388: theme "Leaf of my favourite tree". This was taken just after a shower of rain left some water droplets. The Wollemi is a fascinating Australian tree. Rare in nature (fewer than 100 in a National Park),These trees were first discovered as recently as 1994 only about 150km from the city of Sydney, having previously been known only as fossils - some dating back 200M years! The most recent known fossil was 4M years old. To help preserve these trees, they have since been grown and sold extensively. I have previously posted photos of this tree here.

For Macro Mondays weekly project No 369: "Summer fruits". I hope I will be excused for showing this mandarine (also PiP) which is fresh in season here, as I imagine current seasonality is the intent of the theme (even though it's now winter here).

On Wednesday I posted an image of a retaining wall for the Wednesday Wall group. This is the fence that sits above that wall (visible, in part, at lower right). Background info: The wall is a retaining wall for terracing between two properties - from the upper property only the fence is visible. Happy Fence Friday and have a great weekend, everyone.

For Macro Monday (Afternoons) #350 - Macro of picture frame

For Macro Mondays group 25/9//2023, topic #328. "Wood Chip. Details of a wooden chip, how it is created when wood is worked. ". To give some scale, that is a half inch (12.5mm) chisel.

This lilly pops up in my garden at about this time every year. It seems to thrive on neglect. :-) I'm about to head away again for a while. I may be able to get online briefly while away. For now though, I wish everyone all the very best and happy photography.

This colourful little animal is a Jervis Bay Tree Frog (Litoria jervisiensis) with a body about 30 mm long. These are native to the south east coastal area of Australia. I found the frog floating in my dogs' water bowl, from which it would never have been able to depart. After I took these images (see also PiP), I took it out and it hopped away. Some reflections in the water around its head.

I was interested this morning to notice this spider on a fence post. The post is about 50mm across, so I'd think the spider's extended length is about 40mm. I was unsure which genus it belongs to, but it seems it may be one of many identified as Tetragnatha species. Best viewed large.

Singapore 10 cent piece, about 15mm across. This was intended for the Macro Monday group before the recent problems with ipernity, the theme "This time it should be a close-up (macro) of the number 10". Better late than never I guess! I've just bought some extension tubes to play around with, this was taken with an old manual 50mm lens.

Our native Wonga ( pandorea pandorana ) vines are growing along our side fence and are in full flower. Shown in the PiP are the white flowered ones, situated to the left of this image. Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable weekend, everyone. HFF.

Our Wonga vines are just beginning to flower, pretty much the first indications that winter is passing here. In a week or two they'll be a mass of blossoms. The flowers are about 25mm long. Explored.

Macro Mondays No 163, 27 July. Topic "abstract flower stem/stems". This is the view of the stem/s for one of our grevillea flowers - see the PiP for a full flower. I'm very glad I took this when I did, as an intense weather system already has brought us about 250 mm of rain and strong winds in the past two days (with an 8 hour power loss today). UPDATE - we finished up with 280mm over three days, fortunately without any further problems to us. Explored.

The botanical name for this tree is Eucalyptus viminalis , but it is more commonly known as either Ribbon Gum or Manna Gum. It is typically found growing near streams from the coast to the mountains at the south east corner of Australia. It grows to a height of up to 50 M. In the PiP is another image of the "ribbon bark", which results from peeling of the smooth white trunk.
