At left was once the railway track embankment for bringing coal to the port of Wollongong for shipping. Rebuilt as the "Blue Mile Pathway" , it is now a very popular walking and cycling track. Happy Fence Friday, everyone.

The old coal port at Wollongong (no longer used for that purpose) on a quiet weekend day near midwinter.
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week.

This old 1800s fortification is at Wollongong (harbour in right background) which was once a major coal export port. For now I'll post it to Wall Wednesday, but it also has fences and a bench. :-)
Happy Wall Wednesday, everyone.

After a cold front passed up the east coast of Australia the weather cleared onshore, but these large cumulus and cumulonimbus (anvil) clouds were still offshore.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and an enjoyable weekend to follow.
Benches for all

There are three benches here, which should allow everyone to take a rest. The large trees, I'm fairly sure, are examples of Moreton Bay Figs, a species native to Australfig.
Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.

Looking across Wollongong's small harbour. Something here for everyone - lighthouse, water, weather, boats, a bench and even a fence!
I now shall be away until mid next week. Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and an enjoyable weekend.

The beach was being well used, with surfers chasing waves and surf classes for groups of youngsters. In the distance the steelworks which come to mind for most Australians when Wollongong is mentioned. The thunderstorm, far away, had weakened when it arrived several hours later. Stitched panorama. Looking across the little harbour at Wollongong, on the NSW south coast. The pole on the left was originally the central pivot point for a crane used for the goods carried by the old coastal steamers early in the last century.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a safe and enjoyable weekend.

The Wollongong Botanic Gardens have a formal Rose Garden (though with few roses at present as it's winter here) . See also PiP.
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday with a great week to follow.

Looking across Wollongong Harbour toward some anchored shipping. The large ship with the red paint is a car carrier named "Polaris Highway". The old structure behind the foreground yacht once was the pivot for a jib crane used for shipping cargo, when this was a working port. The VW Kombi is a bonus. Maybe best viewed large.
Your choice of the fences, and I'll wish everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend after a Happy Fence Friday.

A sunny autumn day at the side of the harbour in Wollongong - even a swimmer going by near the buoy and someone sitting on a bench. The 'old' lighthouse at left, the 'new' one at right. Happy Bench Monday, everyone.
