the nave and aisles are by blore,dating from 1832-4,with little figures below the tie beams and head stops to the drip moulds. this church is still pre-archaeological gothic, mixing correct details of many periods into an improbable whole.

number 21 was built in 1847 by blore, but burges was working for him at that time, and designed the porch with its angel corbels. it was the chapter clerk's house.
