Dumbarton The Peter Denny Statue in Dumbarton is a Category B listed monument on Church Street, commemorating Sir Peter Denny — one of the most important figures in Dumbarton’s shipbuilding history. It stands beside the Municipal Buildings and is formally recognised by Historic Scotland for its cultural significanc. Peter Denny (1822–1895), was a partner in the world‑famous Denny shipbuilding firm of Dumbarton. He was a leading figure in Denny Brothers, the shipyard that made Dumbarton internationally famous. He was also a pioneer in ship design, testing tanks, and marine engineering. His family's shipyard was a major employer in 19th‑century Dumbarton. The statue reflects his importance to the town’s industrial heritage.

White Tower Crag

Dumbarton Rock The western peak of Dumbarton Rock is called White Tower Crag because it was once the site of a White Tower that stood there during the Middle Ages. This crag rises to about 240 feet and is the higher of the two summits on the rock. The eastern peak, known as The Beak, is slightly lower and has a flatter summit.
