from warm, sunny Florida - THIS is sunbathing - © All rights reserved ------------------ - Official Reptile of the State of Florida - the American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) - once hunted almost to extinction - it has become populous enough - that hunts can be held [ yes, they call it a 'harvest' ] - but, you have to have over $1,000 to participate - that should weed out some - when alligators no longer are afraid of humans - that is when they become dangerous - it is against the law to feed them - how can they tell the hand-that-feeds-them - from another human? - there are many interesting [ and scary articles on the internet ] - IF you live here, you know to respect these creatures - who have been here way before we were born - shall be here long after we are gone - if you are going to visit Florida - these are wild animals - now, seriously - you really want to get up close and make friends with this ?

not only does it make sense for these be in various areas so weary souls can rest .. but also, those of us who carry a camera like it is another appendage of our body .. find interest in style, shape, form & texture of said works of art .. and .... Hollis Gardens at Lake Mirror in Lakeland, Florida, USA contains fountains, sculptures, benches, flowers of all kinds, tropical & native plants and also this garden .. vegetables and herbs are planted with care, as are all others here .. if you are in the area & it is a lovely day, take your camera (you wouldn't be without it!)... sit on one of the benches and watch for all kinds of photo ops ! if you live across the pond, guess you'll just have to send us photos of the beautiful places we would love to see!
