I saw three ships come sailing in … Three very different vessels in Fremantle Inner Harbour: the container ship MSC Ajaccio; the cruise liner Norwegian Spirit and the tug Svitzer Falcon. The cruise ship had just come into the Inner Harbour and was being manoeuvred by the tug. The Inner Harbour is quite wide, enough to turn this 300 metre long ship with ease and then push it to the dock for disembarkation. The container vessel MSC Ajaccio is one of four or five that were loading or unloading at the dockside wharves, some were container ships, others were bulk carriers. My wife (She, Who Must Be Obeyed) got it into her head to go and see a large cruise ship come into the harbour and be pushed around by tugs, so we went to see the Norwegian Spirit enter between 5 and 8 a.m.; then we saw it that same night leaving on the next leg of its journey from Singapore to Sydney. She (my wife) has already broached the idea of seeing another ship come in. Sigh … Yes, dear … (By the by, as I typed this description, the auto-correct changed ‘cruise ship’ to ‘curse ship’. I wondered whether to leave it like that but thought that might appear impolite.)

A Happy Final Fence Friday of 2022 to everyone. I hope your day, your New Year celebrations and the entirety of 2023 are pleasant, joyful and far, far better than 2022 seemed to be. Love to all. This is one of the many canals in Mandurah, along which Madame Much Younger Owl and myself march briskly each morning early for our daily exercise and for the delight of seeing dolphins, swans, herons, egrets, ducks, terns, seagulls, other walkers (old and young) and their dogs.
