This statue in front of the "Zeitgenössisches Forum Leipzig" symbolizes the grotesque deformation of man by the two totalitarian regimes Eastern Germany suffered from. Statue on the Straße des 17. Juni. On the base it reads "Ich gehe durch die Welt und rufe FRIEDE FRIEDE FRIEDE" (I walk the world and call Peace Peace Peace). It's an allegorical figur symbolising Freedom of Opinion (Meinungsfreiheit). The statue looks in the direction of the Brandenburger Tor and the east part of the city. Artist: Gerhard Marcks Erected in May 1989
